Inmagic's DB/TextWorks is a text-database product that is a combination of database and text retrieval software that enables you to build networked and standalone textbases to manage diverse types of information including text, images, and multimedia. Use DB/Text WebPublisher to disseminate information from you text-databases on intranets and the Internet.
DB/TextWorks textbase can contain just about anything -- customer information, company policies, contracts. The design of your textbase depends on your particular application needs. You simply specify the fields you want to include in each record.
DB/TextWorks uses "relational-like" database linking to eliminate redundant information and reduce the time you spend entering and updating your data. You can keep common information, such as names and addresses, in one textbase and reference it from others.
Fast, Precise, Easy Searching
DB/TextWorks can complete a keyword search across 100,000 records in less than one second while the same search in a standard DBMS can take more than two minutes. The difference comes from DB/Textworks' ability to index every word in a textbase.
You can execute complex queries by entering words and phrases in search prompts for each field or groups of fields. Choose from a variety of Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) and specify the selection criteria, such as dates, keywords, phrases, ranges, and proximity relationships, to broaden or narrow your searches.
Polished Reports in Minutes
The DB/TextWorks report writer gives you total control over the look and content of your reports. With the drag-and-drop form designer, you can use your mouse to select boxes representing various report elements, size the boxes, and drag them to where you want them on the page.
You can repackage search results to fit your individual needs. If you want to create tabular or columnar reports, simply choose the field you want in each column and DB/TextWorks does the rest. What-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) simplicity provides instant visual feedback as you design your reports.
Powerful Image Management
Image management capabilities are built into DB/TextWorks. You can store, retrieve, display and print color, grayscale, and black-and-white images. DB/TextWorks supports more than 30 standard file formats, including TIFF, JPEG, and BMP.
Linking one or more images to a record is simple: just add the file name of the image to the corresponding record. You can do this interactively, or in a batch mode for larger jobs. As you scan the image you can place the image file name automatically into its record. Any TWAIN-compatible scanner will work.
