Inmagic® Genie and DB/Text® Library Suite Genie is a Web-based integrated library system building on DB/TextWorks and WebPublisherPRO to create DB/Text Library Suite. Genie provides effective management and access for both traditional library materials and non-traditional items such as PDFs, URLs, images and more. Accessible 24/7 from a standard Internet browser, Genie supports the back-office activities of the information center while simultaneously providing rich retrieval capabilities for end users. It is well-suited to both single-site libraries, and multi-site libraries that want a single catalog covering multiple libraries. Since growing needs often must be met with existing or even reduced resources, the Genie ILS provides many features that allow information professionals to operate more efficiently and thus have more time to leverage their professional information management expertise, such as:
Information professionals are drawn to Genie’s flexibility and configurability. Because of its underlying data model, a Genie ILS can conform to each library's unique information, needs and workflow – library staff and end users don't have to conform to Genie. It offers unparalleled flexibility for searching, reporting and configuring yet requires minimal IT support. Genie is built as an open system, with an XML API and the ability to export your organization’s data from the ILS at any time in a variety of formats, including MARC and XML. Genie was designed from the ground up as a Web-based ILS, rather than by porting earlier technology to the Web. It is a streamlined ILS, with an interface focused on core library functionality.
